Trucks of Art returns for 2026.
Led by the NYC Department of Sanitation and the Sanitation Foundation, Trucks of Art invited artists to transform active collection trucks into moving works of art using reclaimed paint.
On May 19 in Union Square, five different artist-designed and painted DSNY collection trucks will be unveiled to the public for the first time. After the event, they’ll go into service and travel through neighborhoods across NYC, or be used in other community events.
The community festival made possible by Mack Trucks and PaintCare includes:
artist meet-and-greets
hands-on activities with Materials for the Arts, and play:groundNYC
community clean-ups presented by Mack Trucks.
Come see the work up close and join in on celebrating the DSNY workforce and a community committed to creating a “clean city culture.”
This community-based event is part of the NYC Big Spring Clean - a citywide initiative to create a cleaner and more sustainable city for all New Yorkers.
