Assembly Recap

Today your school was visited by a member of the

New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY)

During the assembly, participants:

Heard directly from a sanitation professional who shared their experiences on the job and answered young people’s questions. They also heard ideas from adults about ways they can help keep New York City clean and healthy.

Which actions are a best fit for your family?

Explore ideas together and decide on an action to take!

Separate food scraps and place them in the organics bin.

Go on a neighborhood walk and clean-up litter. Wear gloves to be safe!

Check to see if you are recycling cartons and aluminum foil in the blue waste stream.

Drop off electronic waste at a special recycling event.

Thank a Sanitation Worker next time you see them in action!

Share how you’re improving waste and recycling practices in your school.
