Covalent Chemical Donates Sanitizer

May 6, 2020

In response to the NFL Alumni and Covalent Chemical COVID-19 donation campaign, Covalent, in cooperation with artist Ryan Keeley and designer Heron Preston, donated 10 cases (40 gallons) of Covalent Clean hand sanitizer to NYC’s front-line sanitation workers. The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) received the shipment on Friday, May 1.

“Sanitation employees are on the front lines fighting through this crisis every day to keep the city running, although they don’t always get recognized as “first responders” or “essential workers,” said Julie Raskin, Executive Director of the Sanitation Foundation, the official nonprofit affiliate of DSNY. “Our employees were thrilled to be recognized by Keeley, Covalent and our long-time partner Heron Preston. The Covalent donation was distributed to garages in the Bronx in Queens that have been hard-hit by the pandemic, and where protective resources like hand sanitizer have been scarce.”

“The DSNY is one of the essential backbones that keeps the New York machine moving,” said New York City artist Ryan Keeley. “I am happy to donate alongside my colleagues to help ensure the safety of every DSNY employee and the rest of New York as they sacrifice themselves to keep each and everyone of us safe.”

Fashion designer Heron Preston added, "Sanitation workers have always been integral to the well being of our daily lives, yet historically have never received the same respect or recognition for their contributions as essential workers to society. The Foundation for NY’s Strongest [Sanitation Foundation] was established in 2016 through the combined efforts of myself and the DSNY to further their waste goals and celebrate the workers who put their lives on the line. Today, I am still so proud to be a partner to them and thankful to my friends who have been joining us to show them our appreciation. To all of the sanitation workers, first responders and health care workers out there, I want to say thank you for being there for us. We are here for you too.”
