NYC Trash Academy: Talking Dirty About Sustainable Solutions February 8 - March 21

Our 2024 Academy offers a unique combination of virtual instruction and hybrid study halls. Our 10-session series consists of 8 virtual lecture modules and 2 scheduled virtual field trips. Modules can be watched on-demand at your own pace or with your cohort at our scheduled evening watch parties.
There will be three hybrid evening study halls where you can come together with other participants (virtually or in person) to ask questions, have discussions and network as a cohort. 
Our academy will also kick off with an optional in-person meet and greet on February 8 and culminate with an in-person graduation and networking event at our final study hall on March 21, to further build community and momentum towards personal and collective action.

  • You will need to complete the following to obtain a certificate of completion:

    • View all 8 virtual modules and attend the 2 scheduled virtual field trips (or watch the recording of the field trips if unable to make them live)

    • Complete the assignment form after each module (and before the module’s Study Hall) & each field trip

    • Attend (in person or virtually) the three hybrid Study Halls

  • You if you’re free! The orientation is a completely optional in-person meet and greet taking place on Thursday, February 8 from 6:30-7:00pm at The Living Room at Pier 57 (25 11th Ave, New York, NY 10011). Light refreshments will be provided. Come meet others in your cohort and ask us any questions!

  • You can watch the 8 virtual modules on-demand at your own pace or with other participants at our scheduled evening watch parties. The Watch Parties are completely optional and informal events taking place on Zoom. You will be able to watch the module simultaneously with others in your cohort and be able to use the chat function.

  • The three hybrid Study Halls are events where you can come together with other participants (virtually or in person) to ask instructors questions, discuss the modules and network as a cohort. Study Hall 1 will cover modules 1-3, Study Hall 2 will cover modules 4 & 5 and Study Hall 3 will cover modules 7 & 8.

  • It is not necessary to watch the modules in any particular order. However, you will need to watch the modules and complete the assignment form for each module before their corresponding Study Hall.

    *Please note that Module 6: Circular Economy virtual session will be available to attend live and the recording will only be available after March 5th.

  • The field trips will be recorded and shared after they take place for anyone who is not able to attend live or for those who would like to rewatch the presentations.
