A Week of Action to clean up “The World’s Most Famous Street”

During NYC Climate Week in September 2023, the Sanitation Foundation and WE❤️NYC partnered up for a week-long cleanup of the world’s most famous street in The Great Broadway Sweep!

Over 500 volunteers cleared nearly 2,500 pounds of litter off of our city sidewalks, and we spread the word about the importance of a clean, healthy city to over 20mm people through news coverage, partnerships with corporations and community groups and collaborations with social media influencers.

The week-long event took place at 9 locations - beginning with with two cleanups at the far ends of Manhattan. Each day, we progressed closer toward Times Square, ending with a massive cleanup and celebration in the heart of NYC, led by the one of America’s most popular TV host, producer and writer Andy Cohen.

Watch this fun and entertaining short video from media group Public Opinion featuring interviews along the route. You’ll be inspired to clean up your neighborhood….”If you think New York is dirty, clean it up!”

Hope to see you September 2024 along Broadway. If you are interested in learning more about partnering with us on this project, drop us a line at info@sanitationfoundation.org.
